Exmoor to host walking festival

The North Devon and Exmoor Autumn Walking Festival begins on October 1st.

Holiday home owners in Devon can take part in the North Devon and Exmoor Autumn Walking Festival beginning October 1st.

The festival, which lasts for four days, will feature 32 guided walks and numerous foodie outings to tie in with the Exmoor Food Festival, which runs from October 2nd until the 10th.

Whether you're an experienced walker seeking a full-day hike or someone who just fancies a brief stroll in the countryside, there will be something to suit you.

Guides will include local enthusiasts, landowners and rangers from Exmoor National Park and two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Events that link with the food festival include a circular 7.4 mile moorland walk on Friday October 1st, taking in lunch beside the river Barle.

And the walking festival also coincides with the West Somerset Railway autumn steam gala where train-lovers can take a ride on the scenic railway route from Dunster to Washford before walking back to the start point.
