Cruise Ship Introduces GPS Tracking

Royal Caribbean's new luxury cruise liner is going to offer passengers GPS tracking to ensure children can remain safe while onboard, it has emerged.

The Oasis of the Seas cruise ship is to introduce a Global Positioning System (GPS) as a way of keeping track of children onboard.

According to the Daily Telegraph, parents will be encouraged to purchase the devices to ensure their kids do not become lost while walking around the 225,000-tonne vessel.

The Daily Telegraph noted that the system will be linked to Royal Connect, a new onboard phone system that is to also to help passengers remain in contact with each other.

Able to carry up to 6,300 people, Oasis of the Seas is Royal Caribbean's largest cruise ship and the organisation is hoping to develop GPS functions on other liners if it proves a popular service.

Available to purchase onboard, the devices can not be used for ship-to-shore calls and are to only be used while travelling on Oasis of the Seas, the Daily Telegraph added.

Royal Caribbean chairman Richard Fain was recently reported in the Daily Telegraph as stating that Oasis of the Seas offers a "unique experience" to its guests.
